Happy Valentine’s Day! In Florida, it can feel like the only roses in your life will come from the florist shop. With our humidity, it can be a very difficult environment to grow roses in. Knockout roses become very popular for their lower maintenance and resistance to disease, however their shortish lifespan and variable fragrance, leave something to be desired. Many people are not aware than the Florida pioneers also had a love for roses and there are some very hardy heritage breeds that were popular back in the day – the variety ”Louis Philippe’ being commonly called the Cracker Rose.
