Want to learn about rain barrels? The county Extension Office and SWFWMD have loads of information on DIY rain catchment. For those who would like some in person help, there is a scheduled class at the end of the month. Hot off the press-release:
“The Citrus County Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ program has partnered with a new business, The Green Footprint in Crystal River, to offer two rain barrel workshops. The workshops will be offered on Wednesday, August 29 at 4:00-5:00 p.m. and 6:00-7:00 p.m. at The Green Footprint, 7958 W. Gulf to Lake Highway, Crystal River, FL 34429 . The cost per barrel is $40.00 (includes the spigot and overflow attachment). For each barrel purchased, The Green Footprint will donate $4.00 to a scholarship fund for Citrus County students pursuing a degree in a field that contributes towards environmental conservation and stewardship (such as environmental science, agriculture, horticulture and related fields). Payment can be made with cash in person or with a credit card in person or over the phone; checks are not accepted. Payment must be received by Monday, August 27 to reserve your spot. Please BYOC – bring a folding/portable chair with you to the class. Call Julie or Tracy at 352-257-5403 or TheGreenFootprint@gmail.com for more information.”
